Weaver Precast Storage Lot – Ephrata, PA

Weaver Precast had an existing storage lot located on a hillside at their 824 E Main St Ephrata manufacturing facility. Due to the slope, the existing lot contained several different levels and was not easy to use or convenient for truck traffic. Ames Construction was chosen to oversee the construction of a new single-level storage lot, maximizing the usable space, and creating a more convenient and safe place where precast products could be stored and shipped from. Incidentally, this lot is located directly behind the Ames Construction Inc. headquarters.

The project began with the demolition of the existing small lots as well an old building remnant and its foundation. There were also many trees to clear and a significant amount of unsuitable soil had to be removed. There was a large amount of old concrete waste located on the site that we were able to reclaim and use as fill, lowering the amount of new fill that had to be brought in. New construction included installation of an underground detention system, a poured concrete retaining wall (with new railing) around the entire perimeter and new electrical for lighting and truck outlets. In order to maximize the usable space, we had to design the elevation of the lot to be as high as possible which required the retaining wall to be 20′ tall in some places.
