HVAC Service Technician - Commercial

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title:  HVAC Service Technician – Commercial

Reports To: HVAC Sales/Service Manager

Position Summary

To Join the Ames Mechancial HVAC Service Department, a growing team. The Ames Mechanical Commercial HVAC Service Technician’s primary role is to provide exceptional customer service through the servicing, maintenance, start-up, and replacement of HVAC equipment. Paid travel time in a company vehicle to various locations, has you working independently most days. On average a 45-hour work week to maintain a healthy work-life balance. There is potential overtime with work-load and after-hours service calls for nights and weekends.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  1. Service call to diagnose, fix, repair or replace parts on roof top units (RTUs) and other commercial HVAC equipment.
  2. Troubleshoot HVAC systems to keep equipment functioning properly.
  3. Complete planned maintenances on HVAC systems throughout the year, as scheduled.
  4. Complete start-ups on Ames Construction, Inc. jobs, as scheduled.
  5. Complete unit replacement on HVAC systems, as scheduled.
  6. Update work orders on company provided Ipad.
  7. On call for after-hours service calls.
  8. Maintaining a professional attitude and exceptional customer service.

Essential Functions

  1. Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs.
  2. Ability to lift 75 lbs. unassisted and handle 32-ft. extension ladder for roof access.
  3. Ability to work in tight spaces or maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces to access HVAC units.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of 3 years verifiable experience as an HVAC Service technician. Preferred in commercial service and maintenance operation, but not required.
  2. Knowledge of fundamental operation of commercial heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment.
  3. Valid driver’s license to be maintained by employee.
  4. Ability to continually pass random drug and alcohol testing.
  5. Pass criminal and FBI background checks for jobs that require those clearances.
